 | The New Seven Wonders of the World is a proposed revision of the Seven Wonders of the World, organized by a Swiss-based, for-profit corporation called New Open World Corporation (NOWC). The selection is being made by free and paid votes, through telephone or online. The first vote is free to registered members and additional votes may be purchased through a payment to NOWC. |
The New 7 Wonders Foundation, a Swiss-based group, has released its short list of 21 landmarks, and is asking people to vote for their favourites.

Australia’s Sydney Opera House and the Eiffel Tower in Paris have made the short list of a private organization’s New Seven Wonders of the World.
Other remarkable sites include Angkor Wat in Cambodia, Machu Picchu in Peru, the Acropolis in Greece and the Taj Mahal in India.
# CRITERIA
To be included on the list, the wonders had to have been completed by 2000, man-made and be in an “acceptable” state of preservation.
# ORIGINAL 7 WONDERS
The original Seven Wonders of the ancient world were selected by Greek philosopher Philon of Byzantium more than 2,000 years ago. Only the Great Pyramid of Giza, which is also on the new list, is still standing.
Official Declaration ceremony in Lisbon, Portugal on Saturday, July 7, 2007 or 07.07.07.
