TWAIN issues with CanoScan Lide scanners

Most TWAIN issues with LIDE/CANOSCAN scanners can be solved by performing a clean installation.

  1. Unplug the USB cable from the scanner and run the DELDRV.exe (uninstall utility) program from the CD, or download it from the Canon website.
  2. Cut the power or turn off your DSL/CABLE internet modem.
  3. Unhide your system folders by RIGHT click on the START button, then LEFT click EXPLORE. Click on TOOLS on top of window and select FOLDER OPTIONS. Click on the VIEW tap, then click on SHOW HIDDEN FILES AND FOLDERS. Hit OK and close out of everything. Continue reading

How to fix : UNMOUNTABLE BOOT VOLUME : (XP)

This is a very common issue, but is very easy to fix. There are in fact two ways that you can resolve this problem: The Quick Way, and The Long Way. Either one works.
The Quick Way

1.) Start your computer with the Windows CD-ROM if your computer can start from the CD-ROM drive.
2.) When the Welcome to Setup screen appears, press R to select the “Repair with Recovery Console” option.
3.) Select the Windows installation that you want to access from the Recovery Console.
4.) Type the administrator password when you are prompted to do so. NOTE: If no administrator password exists, just press ENTER.
5.) At the command prompt, on the drive where Windows is installed, type CHKDSK /P, and then press ENTER. Your hard drive is then scanned for File System errors. This process shouldn’t take more than 5 minutes. Continue reading

oleaut32.dll was not found

A required dll file C:WindowsSystemoleaut32.dll was not found

PROBLEM:

Sometimes when you start windows or any particular program you get this error – “A required dll file C:WindowsSystemoleaut32.dll was not found” or “oleaut32.dll file is corrupted, or damaged”.

REASON:

Now this may be caused by some bad program file or while installing/uninstalling a software. Linked to missing export OLEAUT32.DLL, file not available or you have a old one installed on your operating system. Continue reading
