Hello! How are you? We are back with another infographics or information graphics for you guys. This time we will talk about (rather visualize about) our very own Mobile Phone and its domineering influence in India. We can’t think of spending one day without it, can we?
We (India) have become the Second-Largest mobile phone/cell market in the World’s after China with 791.38 Million subscribers at the end of February 2011 (According to TRAI). This means 65% of the total population of our country have/use mobile phone, which is supposed to reach 82% in 2014 according to Gartner.
The journey of Mobile Phone India started On 30 July 1995, when the first mobile phone call was made by late Mr. Jyoti Basu (then CM West Bengal) to Mr. Sukh Ram (then Union Communications Minister) with clunky NOKIA 2110 on its own network. Till now NOKIA dominates the Indian mobile handset market and its 3110C model is the most favourite handset of India with 396 million impressions (InMobi 2011 report). One more interesting thing is, according to a TRAI data an average Indian sends 29 SMS per month from their mobile phone.
